30 years after its creation, Alan Charles decided to put an end to Existence. You can get all the details and Alan's reasons in Existence News Section and from Alan's Diary.
Alan will still release the concept album Lust & Passion / Lost in Passion later this year. You can follow Alan's future projects on his own page.
You can obviously still get Existence's albums from our Store!

Lust & Passion / Lost in Passion painting unveiled!
I am very excited to present to you the painting created by artist Virginie Ménard which will serve as the cover of the album to be released in 2022!
Perhaps this work may shock some people but it represents very well the purpose of this next concept. I hope you like it. In my opinion, this is a very beautiful scene of abandonment in love!
Please note that this painting will also be available for purchase as an exclusive print. Details will follow shortly. And of course, the work on recording the album continues - slowly but surely! I also can't wait to let you hear longer excerpts!

Je suis très excité de vous présenter le tableau créé par l'artiste Virginie Ménard qui servira de couverture de l'album qui sortira en 2022!
Peut être cette oeuvre en choquera certains mais elle représente très bien le propos de ce prochain concept. J'espère qu'il vous plaira. Cèts à mon sens une très belle scène d'abandon dans l'amour!

BACK TO SQUARE ONE?
Thirty years ago, in the summer of 1991, I presented my compositions to three musicians recruited through the classified ads. In fact, this trio "hired me" to become a keyboardist in their band. Things turned out differently! They accepted to work on my project.
This musical project was called Existence. On October 10, 1991, this group gave their one and only show in small bar in Montreal called Hémisphère Gauche. The result is pathetic, not to say catastrophic, and it is clear that the guitarist had to leave. His drummer friend decided to follow him, which led Serge Delisle (bass) and myself to find new musicians.
Éric Pilon (guitar) and François Labelle (drums) will join us in the spring of 1992. This will be the real launch of Existence, the title of the first project which became the name of the group at Serge's suggestion. The rest is history, as the saying goes...
In 1999, Existence released its second album, but it was no longer a band in the true sense of the word. It had become a collective of musicians working on my musical concepts. Several very talented musicians took part in the adventure afterwards and I will always be grateful to them. But the group, this entity, this unit which makes the boat sail, was already a thing of the past.
I'm working on the 4th studio album of my projects. Lust & Passion / Lost in Passion will be released in 2022. 30 years to get there! 30 years to go back to basics: a concept, an album. No name, no group, alone. Hope you’ll like the result and keep following me.

RETOUR AUX SOURCES?
Il y a 30 ans, à l’été 1991, je présentais mes compositions à trois musiciens recrutés par le biais des petites annonces. En réalité, ce trio « m’engageait » pour devenir claviériste de leur formation. Les choses ont tourné autrement! Ils acceptèrent de travailler à mon projet.
Ce projet musical se nommait Existence. Le 10 octobre 1991, ce groupe donnait son seul et unique spectacle à l’Hémisphère Gauche, un petit bar de Montréal. Le résultat est pathétique pour ne pas dire catastrophique, et il est clair que le guitariste devait partir. Son ami batteur décida de le suivre, ce qui amena Serge Delisle (basse) et moi-même à débusquer de nouveaux musiciens.
Éric Pilon (guitare) et François Labelle (batterie) se joindront à nous au printemps 1992. Ce sera le réel lancement d’Existence, titre du premier projet qui devint le nom du groupe à la suggestion de Serge. Le reste appartient à l’Histoire, comme dit l’expression…
En 1999, Existence lançait son deuxième album mais ce n’était déjà plus un groupe au sens propre du terme. C’était devenu un collectif de musiciens travaillant à mes concepts musicaux. Plusieurs musiciens de grands talents ont participé à l’aventure par la suite et je leur en serai toujours reconnaissant. Mais le groupe, cette entité, ce collectif qui fait tourner la roue, était déjà chose du passé.
Je travaille sur le 4ième album studio de mes projets. Lust & Passion / Lost in Passion sortira en 2022. 30 ans pour en arriver là! 30 ans pour revenir aux sources : un concept, un album. Pas de nom, pas de groupe, seul. J’espère que vous aimerez le résultat et continuerez de me suivre.
